About the Compress Image to 100 KB tool
100 KB is a typical cap for photos on upload forms, forums and CMS media fields. It is roomy enough for a clear photo at moderate dimensions.
The tool finds the best quality that fits under 100 KB. If the picture is very large it will be scaled down a little, which usually looks identical on a screen.
Step by step
How to compress an image to under 100 KB
Add your picture
JPG, PNG and WEBP files are accepted. You can add several at once.
Check the target
The target is 100 KB. Change it in the settings if the form you are filling in asks for a different limit.
Compress
Quality is lowered just enough, and the picture is scaled down only if quality alone is not enough.
Download
A single picture downloads directly; several arrive together as a ZIP.

Several pictures at once

Questions
Compress Image to 100 KB FAQ
Will a 100 KB picture look good?
At web sizes, yes. Pictures up to around 1,200 pixels across look fine at 100 KB; print-size images will not.
What if it cannot get under 100 KB?
Very large or very detailed pictures sometimes cannot reach a small target without becoming tiny. In that case you get the smallest usable result and a note; lowering the longest side in the settings usually fixes it.
Which format should I choose?
JPG is the safest choice and works everywhere. WEBP is smaller at the same quality, but some older forms and programs do not accept it.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The work happens in your browser, on your own device, so the file is never sent to a server. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
